Safety is a core value at New Gold and our people are of paramount importance to us.  Like all of our operations, the Mesquite Mine places the utmost importance on health and safety and is committed to ensuring all 227 members of the operating team return safely to their respective families at the end of each work day. We strive to continuously improve our health and safety standards through ongoing training, specifically: 

• Loss Management Program: Development of and training on Standard Operating Procedures

• Employee Health Programs: Industrial health (workplace exposures); Wellness (at work, at home, at play)

• Training: Mine emergency response team (training monthly); New/experienced miner training (bi-weekly)

In 2008, we had regular inspections from the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration with no citations and an investigation of an employee complaint by the Mine Safety and Health Administration with negative findings.
